Young people are adopting AI companions quickly, but are they using the right ones? While AI enhances efficiency, it can also discourage deeper cognitive engagement. For students, this may foster reliance on shortcuts, increase opportunities for academic dishonesty, and ultimately undermine critical thinking and independent learning.
